Things that make me smile: customizing tea cups

I had the day off on wednesday this week, and I had bought some tea cups and saucers to design recently. So I got to work and made myself some tea cups!

Here you can see the sketch in progress.

And here is the finished sketch of the trees. 

I used tracing paper to transfer the sketch to the mug. 

I drew the trees on using a sharpie pen. 

And here are all the cups and saucers finished! Baked them at 350° for 30 mins and they are ready for use. So cute! 

Next on the agenda? A Harry Potter themed tea set to give Tyrone for Christmas. I can blog about it because he asked for me to make it for him. I will try and post pics along the way of that set!

Vegas 2012

I bet you thought I forgot I said I'd upload pics didn't you? Well honestly I did... but I only forgot by a week or two. So I just uploaded this via my phone and they aren't in order so lets just get started!

Here is the first dress I wore walking the strip. 

The chandelier at the play Phantom. It was so amazing and cool!

Inside the Venetian where we got the amazing pizza. There were three pigeons who managed to get inside the building. And at one point it became night inside and the sky went out. It was too fun. 

Water show outside of Caesar's palace. 

This was by far my favorite meal. Fresh garden salad, sangria(?) was the drink. I liked snacking on the apple bits after I was done, steak sirloin, and banana nutella sandwiches for desert. So so good.

Overall the trip was a blast, but I don't think I'd go again anytime soon. Maybe for another bucket of candy. 

Valentines day.

For Valentines Day I hand made Tyrone's gift. I ordered a vintage, worn out, deck of cards. And created the "52 Reasons Why I love You," booklet. It was a super fun project that turned out really well. Very cute DIY idea! Easy little craft. 

Here are the supplies needed, deck of cards, tacky glue, two book rings, scissors, a printer, and a list of 52 reasons. I made my inserts using Photoshop CS4.

And here it is done! 

And here is the gifts Tyrone got me, aside from the flowers and card I had posted a few days ago. He got me this pretty ring, and a necklace. Favorite part of the entire Harry Potter series, when Snape tells Dumbledore he always loved Lilly. Best gift ever. So cute. This is kind of our thing :)
